Living in Southern California, I see plenty of cars every day. Not just plenty, but a large variety are on the streets.
Among them that I notice often are Dodge Chargers. To me, these cars a big and brutish. They look powerful especially when used as a police car. They look great in black & white.
With a long history of stock car racing, Dodge Chargers are and should be forever tagged as classic American muscle cars. C'mon, it's the General Lee.
Interestingly enough, however, the current models are Dodge Charge LX which are family luxury sedans. Not muscle cars as most of us thought.
Although when equipped with HEMI engines, they can be every bit a muscle car. Thus, the 2008 and up Dodge Charger RT with 345 cid (5.7 L) Hemi EZB V8 that can put out over 350 hp and the 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 with 370 cid (6.1 L) Hemi ESF V8 are both popular with car nuts.

1969 Dodge Charger
Speaking of popularity among car nuts, remember an orange car in the 1970s TV show called The Dukes of Hazzard? That orange car with "01" decals on the door and the Confederate flag pattern on the roof is named the General Lee and a 1969 Dodge Charger RT.
Made between 1966 and 1978, these were NOT luxury sedans, but good ole American muscle cars. They have what's referred to as a "B" body style and is usually compared to a Coke bottle for the slim and rounded looks. The base model came with a 225 cid Slant Six engine. The more popular package, however, were the ones with a bigger 318 cid V8 engine.
At the top was the Dodge Charger RT. It was the sportiest of the options. It came with a very powerful 440 cid, 375 horsepower, four-barrel carburettor V-8.

- Open Question: 2008 dodge charger wont start?
my 2008 dodge charger wont start, when i turn on the ignition no noise, only red light underneath the fuel gauge comes on, lights are working, cost too much to take to the dealer, please help me. do i still need a new battery even if the lights are still working? - 17 hours ago

- Open Question: 2008 Dodge Charger or 2006-'07 Cadillac Cts?
I am looking to buy a new car. The car i really want is the Cadillac. i can get either for about the same price. I do however really like the exterior of the Charger. The only thing i don't like is how boring the interior is. The Cadillac has everything i want in a car. The only issue is the cost to repair. I hear it is very expensive to have the Cadillac repaired. Basically, my question is, should i get the car of my dreams and pay more for repairs. Or should i Settle for the charger and hopefully not have to pay as much for repairs? Unless my assumptions are completely misguided. - 24 hours ago
- Open Question: Is the US a police state? Why do liberals insist that we feed these guys more tax dollars?
I think it is a police state. Cops harass people were i live all the time. If some skater is smoking pot they lock the kid up or force him to go to rehab. Don't believe me? Just look at the most abused deug by teens. Pot! But everyone knows its not addictive. They are just told they have a choice of jail or rehab instead of letting mom and dad punish their kids. So why do we give these drains on the economy (police) more and more money? Hell, police here drive dodge chargers and get free gas that i helped pay for. What kind of crap is that? I actually did buy the computer. I have a private sector job that actually produces something and doesn't live off taxpayer money. And most cops are to scared to arrest the real bad guys. Theyd rather punk kids or normal people. - 37 hours ago
- Open Question: Should I buy a 2012 Dodge Charger R/T Max?
A little more info: I drove a 2006 Ford Mustang GT for 2 1/2 years and loved it. Last month, I was in an accident when my car spun out and hit a semi-truck twice. It wasn't actually too badly damaged and is being repaired now. Though, considering I live in Chicago, I don't believe it's the best car to keep, and, therefore, plan to sell/trade-in when it's finished. Now, I've been looking around for options and the 2012 Dodge Charger R/T Max (AWD option) is looking very attractive. I'm looking for some input from those who have owned a Charger, more-so, if it's from 2011 and on. Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks. - 41 hours ago
