Whenever a comic book movie opens, I'm intrigued by the fans in costumes. Superhero movies, such as Iron Man 2, are great. Opening night is like Comic Con. The best eye candies are women dressed up as superheroes. Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Black Cat, Supergirl, etc.
That's fine by me. Hot babes want to be seen in their sexy superhero costume. And guys just want to see hot babes.
Of the top echelon female superheroes, Wonder Woman is the one who stands out in my book. Why? Because burned in my head is an image of Lynda Carter in her Wonder Woman costume.
A real life super sexy babe in a comic book superhero outfit. Someone as hot as Lynda Carter in Wonder Woman costume fulfills the fantasies of many pre-pubescent boys.
But then again, just eyeing the fanbase of a comic book convention, any sexy babe in a women's superhero costume also fulfills the fantasy of adult males.

Which comes to the point of this hub. Please, someone make a Wonder
Woman movie already! There are so many comic book movies being made.
And so many TV series from the 70s, 80s, and 90s that are being adapted
to the big screen. Wonder Woman is both.
Comic book fans love her. And moviegoers want to see her.
Wonder Woman fanbase
has been teased every year. Rumors and bad news are all we have so
far. The best information available is a targetted Wonder Woman
movie release for 2011. DC/Warner and Silver Pictures are in
charge.
Which actress should play Wonder Woman?
Among the most fevered speculation are the actresses. Who should play Wonder Woman?
Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia
Chase in Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series) and Jaime King (Goldie in Sin City) have had their names in
rumorville. The same goes for Morena Baccarin (Anna from V).
And recently, Bridget Regan (Kahlan Amnell from Legend
of the Seeker) was the frontrunner from a MTV online poll.
Not
a bad selection, but we still do not have a Wonder Woman.
Of
course, there was the big one. Geek-favorite TV/movie producer, Joss
Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dollhouse) was slated to
direct at one time. But the Joss Wheadon project on Wonder Woman
is no longer in the works. Quite a downer.
With the success of Iron
Man, Batman, and Spider-Man as theatrical series,
perhaps DC / Warner will find a way to give us a Wonder Woman movie.
Adrianne Palicki is the new Wonder Woman
UPDATE -- February 2011
A new Wonder Woman has been cast for a TV series. Princess Diana will be played by Adrianne Palicki for David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman. I remember seeing Adrianne Pallicki in Legion and Supernatural. She's also starred in Friday Night Lights and Lone Star. Best of all, she voiced Padme Amidala in one ofRobot Chicken's Star Wars parody. Ms. Palicki is not a complete unknown, but definitely upcoming. Great break for her. Let's wish her luck.
This Wonder Woman project is spear-headed by David E. Kelley. Known for exec producing Ally McBeal, The Practice, and other shows, David Kelley has several Emmy awards under his belt. So I'm not worried about this show from the production end.
I think the weak link is in this project is NBC. As of late, they managed to screw up remakes of past classics such as Bionic Woman and Knight Rider. They also botched potentially long running series such as Heroes. They may have another loser in the making with The Cape. I stopped watching this show after the third week because it is uninteresting. The Event looks ok but not mind-blowing likeHeroes Season 1. And oh yeah, there's the Jay Leno / Conan O'Brien fiasco.
So for Wonder Woman, I'm still crossing my fingers.

Maybe. Although I did hear a rumor that Clark Kent might have a cameo in the Green Lantern movie. However, it was never confirmed but if it's true, then we might just see Wonder Woman in a movie after all. Maybe not in a solo film, but maybe in a Justice League movie perhaps.
Hey did you hear about NBC picking up the pilot idea for a new Wonder Woman live action tv show? Supposedly it's written by David E. Kelley, the same guy that wrote for "Ally McBeal", "Boston Legal" and "Chicago Hope."
Lets hope for the best on this one!

As much as your going to hate hearing this, I doubt seriously that Wonder Woman movie slated for 2011 is going to be released next year. If it was true, then you definitely would've heard something like who's directing and writing it by now. Even some of the casting would be announced as well, in order to get everything needed to start shooting to meet that 2011 release. You know....kind of like what WB is doing for the Green Lantern or what Marvel is doing for Thor and Captain America coming out next year. Anyway, I apologize if I'm coming off as rude, but I just don't think you should get your hopes up until something official gets released.
Personally, I'm with you on the whole Wonder Woman movie concept. Why WB/DC would rather make less popular characters like Jonah Hex and Green Lantern into big budget movies instead is beyond me. My only guess about that is this. If you look at all the big budget super hero films that starred female leads like "Elektra", "Catwoman", and "Supergirl", then you'll notice they all had something in common. No, it's not the fact they were all super hot, but it was more due to the fact that they bombed. Badly I might add. Granted, I think most of the reason had to do with bad directing and poor screen writing, to be honest.
However, most Hollywood execs aren't going to look at it like that. No, they're just going to generalize the situation and say: "Hey, all the super hero films starring girls bombed, so why take a chance on Wonder Woman bombing like Catwoman or Supergirl did?" Sure, you can argue saying that there's been a lot of bombs starring male super heroes, but there have also been ones that are proven success stories like Batman and Spider-Man for instance. Therefore, you really don't have much of a case to stand on to convince most execs to take a chance on Wonder Woman. Personally, I think if they had wanted a film based on her, then they would've done one by now. However, since they haven't, this only proves my point further.
The only way a Wonder Woman movie will ever happen is if someone can come up with a decent script that won't require too much money to develop (i.e. Kick-Ass or District 9), so execs will be more open to chance it. If not, then you might be waiting a long time before Wonder Woman ever appears onto multiplexes. Who knows, I heard Fathom is being turned in a film, as it's based off a comic book starring a sexy girl named Aspen. Who's to say that if that film proves to break the mold, then Wonder Woman might be possible. However, it stars over rated actress Megan Fox, so that's a tall order to hope for.
Anyway, great hub by the way, and I'm sorry if i crushed your dreams at all. Just wanted to share my opinions with you. thanks for the great read.
