It Came From the 80s: Princess Leia Slave Costume

Looking back over 25 years later, it is apparent that Carrie Fisher in her Princess Leia slave outfit is single-handedly responsible for fulfilling the fantasies of millions of pre-pubescent boys and young men.

Now that we're fully into adulthood, we remember. Even better, we are reminded by countless young women each and every year of our fantasy girl, the slave Leia from the good parts of Return of the Jedi. Thank God for Comic Con and other comic books / sci-fi / movie conventions. It is pretty much guaranteed that a hot babe will be dressed up in a Princess Leia slave costume. And she'll be receiving plenty of attention.

Slave Leia is solidly entrenched in pop culture. There are websites and social media groups dedicated to her:

There are toys and diorama. And, of course, Halloween costumes.

There are also mainstream media recognition of slave Leia with immediate buzz and lasting imprints. The three I instantly recall are the following:

• Olivia Munn dons the slave Leia costume.
• A Star Wars car wash fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Foundation by G4 where hot babes washing cars were dressed in slave Leia outfit.
• A Friends episode with Rachel dressed up in slave Leia costume to fulfill Ross's fantasy. See video clip below.
